Before installing the plugin you should already have WordPress installed.

Extract the zipped package downloaded from CodeCanyon to your local computer.

The plugin zip is named searchford.zip in the root folder.

Navigate to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, select searchford.zip and press Install Now.

After the plugin is installed, remember to go to Plugins > Installed Plugins to Activate Searchford WordPress Advanced Search.
To change the default search settings, go to Settings > Searchford.
Note: The General Settings and Live Search here applies only to the default search form and widget. To set additional custom searches, go to Searchford > Add New Search. Search Index applies to all searches.
General Settings

Sort Results By: Relevance ( Occurance of search term and weights) or Date

Sort Results Order: ASC (Highest relevance first) or DESC (Latest date first)

Custom Taxonomy

Custom Meta Field: enter the meta key separated by commas. Search index will be automatically re-indexed upon saving any changes. Only custom metas added using add_post_meta() and saved in the postmeta table are supported. Use % as a wildcard character if required, e.g. my_meta_%

Show Results From The Following Post Types: Select the Post Types for the Search Results. To include non-public post types, check the box Show non-public post types to display them. E.g. to show results only for WooCommerce Products, only check Products.

Operator When Searching Multiple Terms: Whether multiple terms are searched using OR or AND.

Enable Fuzzy Search: Automatically search for word endings and wildcard characters if no other search operators are detected.

Weights: Set weights for different components that the search term looks for. Higher weights mean higher relevance in search results.

Exclude Specific: (Tip: to help you find slugs easier, a link to the category and taxonomy lists are included)

Categories: Comma separated list of category slugs

Tags: Comma separated list of post tag slugs

Posts or Pages: Post or page IDs. Custom post type IDs also work

Custom Taxonomy: Select custom taxonomy from the drop-down and enter a comma separated list of taxonomy slugs. To exclude more custom taxonomies, click Add Row.

Stopwords: Enter a comma separated list of stopwords. No results will be displayed for these terms even if they are found.

Featured Image: Use the Featured Image for the post as the thumbnail

Custom Meta for Image: Enter a meta key associated with the post that contains the attachment id to use as the thumbnail

Default Thumbnail Image: Select a default image to use if the live thumbnail is not found for the post

Masonry Columns: Enter number of columns

Max. # of Results: Maximum number of results to display

Show Suggestions for 0 Results: Whether to show suggestions for similar terms if no results are found.

Colors: (These colors will apply to all Searchford live previews unless overridden on individual custom searches)

Custom CSS: Enter any custom css to style the live preview as required.
Search Index
-
Post Statuses to Index: Select post statuses to be indexed. Only posts with these statuses will be available in the search results.

Index Behaviour:

Automatically Index Content: Recommended
-
Manual Index: Suitable for sites with content that are updated more than once per 5 minutes. To manually index database, click the Index Database Now button. Remember to save any changes made to settings first before clicking the Index Database Now button to reflect the changes.

Remove Data On Uninstallation: Select this to delete all Searchford posts, settings and index from the database on plugin uninstallation. This can not be undone, once they are deleted all data will be gone forever.

Index Status: Displays the last indexed items for posts, pages, categories, tags and comments.

Index Database Now: Click this button to manually re-index the database.
To add a new custom search, go to Searchford > Add New Search.
Title
Add a title to easily distinguish between searches when selecting in the widget.
Shortcode
Copy and use the shortcode anywhere to insert this customized search form. Only displayed when post is published.
Search Form Appearance

Display Submit Button: Whether to display a submit button

Submit Button Label: Use any submit label

Placeholder Text: Enter a placeholder for the search form
Custom Search Options
-
Results Page Template: Optionally select a template page that the results will be displayed in. If left blank, results will be displayed in the default search page provided by the theme.

All Other Settings: All other settings are the same as described in the Search Settings section.
Live Search Options
Enable or disable live search for this customized search. All settings are the same as described in the Search Settings.
To include a Custom Searchford Search Form anywhere on your site, go to Searchford and copy the shortcode under the column Shortcode, eg [searchford id="100"]

Download and install Poedit.

Translation files ( .mo & .po ) are located under wp-content/plugins/searchford/languages.

Duplicate searchford-en_US.po under the same directory and rename the copied file with the new language code and country code, e.g. searchford-de_DE, searchford-fr_FR. Click here for a complete list of language codes and here for the list of country codes.

Open the new file with Poedit to translate the text strings. Click Save after you are done and the .mo file will be automatically generated.
